PURPOSE:To enable favorable printing to be performed even on a paper having a rough surface, by constituting an ink ribbon of a base, an ink layer and a transparent anchor layer which is melted at the time of thermal transfer and, in a molten state, has a viscosity lower than that of the ink layer. CONSTITUTION:An ink layer 12 is provided on a base 11, and a transparent anchor layer 13 which is melted at the time of thermal transfer and, in a molten state, has a viscosity lower than that of the ink layer 12 is provided on the ink layer 12 to obtain the ink ribbon 14 for thermal fusion transfer. The anchor layer 13 is melted at the time of thermal transfer to adhere to projected parts of a rough surface of a paper 15, and according to the temperature, it also flows into recessed parts to ensure sufficient adhesion to the paper 15, and releases the high-viscosity ink layer 12 from the base 11. Because the anchor 13 which is a low-melting layer is provided near a part of the ink layer 12 at which the temperature due to the thermal head is lowest, the ink is perfectly transferred even onto a rough paper. In addition, because the ink itself is highly viscous, clear printing can be performed at high speed both on a smooth paper and on a rough paper. |
