PURPOSE:A repellent for insect pest having safety to the skin, a large residual amount of chemical component on the surface of the skin and improved durabil ity of repelling effects on insect pests. comprising a chemical component and a specific monoalkylphosphoric ester as active ingredients. CONSTITUTION:A repellent for insect pests containing a chemical component such as N,N-diethyltoluamide, dimethyl phthalate, etc., showing repelling effects on insect pests and a monoalkylphosphoric ester shown by the formula I [R1 and R2 are alkyl, total carbon number of branched alkyl group shown by the formula II is 8-40; X1 and X2 are H, alkali metal, mono-, di- or trialkanol (2-3C) ammonium, etc.,] as active ingredients. The amount of the compound shown by the formula I is 0.5-30wt%, preferably 1s-20wt% based on the repellent and the amount of the chemical component is 0.1-30%.
