PURPOSE:To easily estimate the O2 concn. in a molten steel in the stage of subjecting the molten steel tapped from a converter to a vacuum deoxidation treatment by gradually adding a carbon-contg. material to the molten steel until the nearly equil. state is attained, then determining the C concn., Co partial pressure and temp. of the molten steel and using the specific equil. equation from the values thereof. CONSTITUTION:Since the molten steel tapped from the converter is in a superoxidized state, there is a need for knowing the O2 concn. in the molten steel in order to control the content of Al in the molten steel in the subsequent stage of subjecting the molten steel to degassing refining by an RH type vacuum degassing device, etc. The carbon- contg. material such as high-carbon ferromanganese and coke is charged separately several times in a small amt. each in the initial period of the vacuum deoxidation treatment to avoid boiling. The C concn. (C), Co partial pressure PCO and temp. T of the molten steel are determined at the point of the time when the molten steel in the superoxidized state attains the equil. state. The values are substd. into the equation for the equil. relation between the C concn. (C) and O2 concn. (O), by which the (O) in the molten steel is estimated. |
