LIQUID CRYSTAL DISPLAY ELEMENT

PURPOSE:To obtain the titled element having a good durability under conditions of a high temp. and a high humidity by forming a semi-transmission layer which is prepared by coating the lower surface of a lower polarizing plate 8 with an ink contg. a pearl pigment having a metallic luster directly. CONSTITUTION:The titled element comprises the semi-transmission layer 12 obtd. by coating the lower surface of the lower substrate 8 with the ink contg. the peal pigment having a metallic luster. The prescribed layer 12 has the function which enables to effect a reflection type display by reflecting an outdoor daylight and also enables to effect a transmission type display by transmitting a light coming from a light source provided on a back side of the lower polarizing plate. The semi-transmission layer 12 is prepared by dispersing the pearl pigment 13 having the metallic luster into a binder 14. The pearl pigment 13 having the metallic luster comprises for example, a titanium oxide material etc. The semi-transparent layer 12 is formed by coating said layer with the ink mixed the peal pigment and the binder 14 according to a printing method.
