PURPOSE:To obtain a cosmetic raw material keeping the transparency without causing clouding and precipitation even after a long-term storage, by filtering a solution of hydrolyzed protein (derivative) with an ultrafiltration membrane. CONSTITUTION:A purified raw material for cosmetic can be produced by filtering a solution of a hydrolyzed protein and/or its derivative with an ultrafiltration membrane having a critical molecular weight of 2,000-200,000, preferably 10,000-100,000, thereby removing a latent insoluble component (a component composed mainly of a component which is not sufficiently decomposed by hydrolysis and has high molecular weight and forming an insoluble substance with time by association, etc., even if temporarily dissolved in water). The ultrafiltration is carried out under conventional condition, e.g. filtering a solution of a hydrolyzed protein (derivative) having a concentration of 10-30% at 50-60 deg.C under a pressure of 1-5kg/cm<2>G. |
