<p>The antenna has a signal source (1) with a conical horn. At the end of the horn is the auxiliary reflector (2) which is attached to, or part of, the horn. The auxiliary reflector is a rotation-symmetrical concave ellipsoid (E) with two foci (f1, f2); one focus (f2) is at the apex of the source horn and the other (f1) coincides with the focus of the main reflector (3). The main reflector (3) is a rotation-symmetrical concave paraboloid (P), the axis (Z) of which is almost parallel to the axis (A, A) through the source horn (1). The wave front (4) from the source is a spherical-wave which is then focussed (5,6) through the combined foci (f1, F1) on to the main reflector. The output beam (7) has a flat spherical wave front.</p> |
