The strip accommodates a picture or plate, if necessary together with a rear support plate and a transparent front one. It has a frame comprising a number of profiled members joined together at the ends and covering strips snapping into engagement with them over the picture edges, holding this and the plates. The profiled members (1) have a portion (14) protruding above the surface on which the picture (7) or support plate (6) rests. Thus the edges of the picture and of the plates (6,8) are contained between these members.
