发明名称 COMBUSTION MONITORING METHOD AND APPARATUS
摘要 PURPOSE: To monitor combustion in a cylinder with high responsiveness by generating first and second electric signals indicating the intensity of light in the cylinder by means of first and second optical converters attached to the cylinder and monitoring the burning state from the signal ratio between the two electric signals. CONSTITUTION: The light generated when combustion takes place in the cylinder is inputted to a light measuring instrument not shown in the Figure but attached to the external wall of the cylinder and supplied to two photodiodes 18 and 19 which are separated from each other through an optical fiber and make spectral responses. The diodes 18 and 19 generate different outputs based on the different spectral responses and the outputs are supplied to logarithmic amplifiers 21 and 22. The signals obtained at the amplifiers 21 and 22 are sent to a subtracting circuit 23 and the output of the circuit 23 indicates the logarithm of the signal ratio between the signals generated by the diodes 21 and 22. When the combustion is started in the cylinder, a sharp temperature rise occurs and the color of the emitted light suddenly changes. Therefore, the burning starting time can be monitored from the ratio signal of the circuit 23 indicating the start of the combustion, because the ratio signal also rises shraply.
