<p>This invention relates to a Cotton type knitting machine in which the yarn guides (5) and the sinker cam (23) are positioned on respective parallel rods (4, 25), slidable longitudinally and driven between respective end positions of travel by double-acting fluid-operated jacks (16, 17). The jacks (16, 17) are responsive to special sensors detecting the stroke completed by the yarn guides and the cam; the sensors are mounted on parts (12, 13, 33) to cooperate with graduated rods (23, 34) and may be photo-electric inductive or magnetic.
