The needle thread supply appts. includes two spaced guides each having a through passage for the needle thread. Reciprocable across the passages in the space between the guides is a thread take-up lever which entrains the thread in a V-shaped loop and then releases the loop. Pref. the lever is reciprocated from the machine main shaft, either pivotally or slidably.
