The invention is intended for use in the sport of table tennis. The aim is to reduce the large number of plywood combinations using valuable imported timber for the basic body of the bat in accordance with particular requirements of individual sportsmen/sportswomen, from which the object results to develop a bat whose vibration behaviour can be influenced by simple technical measures during the production process. This object is achieved in that the bat is provided with a basic body (1) and a handle (2) which is in connection with one or more hollow spaces (4), the latter being filled with a medium of given consistency and composition.
