A protective stratified (laminated) material which may be removed easily, for application to the upholstery material and to the decorative material covering vehicle walls and seats, includes a plastic film covered on one surface with a pressure-sensitive adhesive based on an acrylic resin. In one form of the invention, the film is formed by non-oriented polypropylene capable of being drawn and withstanding deep drawing and also of withstanding the heat required during heat-shaping. The pressure-sensitive adhesive is essentially of the type which does not adversely affect the paintwork or the decorative material and which has a preferred adhesion failure with respect to the upholstery material or to the covering of the walls or seats instead of with respect to the film. In another form of the invention, the film, when it does not have to be subjected to heat-shaping operations, may have a different composition, such as polyethylene terephthalate, oriented polypropylene, polyethylene or polyvinyl chloride. The method of use of the film in all forms of the invention consists in applying the pressure-sensitive adhesive to a surface of the film. The film is then applied to the upholstery material or another material which may be stored and conveyed in the form of a roll. By virtue of the adhesive, the film adheres to the upholstery material or other material until it is physically removed from it.
