Device for grading mixtures according to particle size or for separating particles or fibres from liquids or gases. The first part of the separator or the grader is formed from a pre-separator 2 arranged around a cyclone separator, the periphery of which pre-separator has one or more outlet connections 4, through which material that is separated in the pre-separator flows out. The separator has been designed so that the main flow at the outlet connections 4 maintains its tangential speed and the flow is continuously accelerated and fed, preferably tangentially, to an inner cyclone separator.
