PURPOSE:To remove a false gap and to improve reproducing efficiency in a high frequency area by constituting an upper magnetic body of a multilayered film consisting of soft magnetic thin films through an inter-layer insulating film and also constituting the upper magnetic body only of soft magnetic thin films at a part close to a front gap. CONSTITUTION:A grate part of a magnetic path is constituted of multilayer film structure consisting of soft magnetic thin films 8a and an inter-layer insulating film 8b and the upper magnetic body 8 suppresses its eddy current loss at a low level and has a high magnetic permeability. Since the upper magnetic body 8 is formed only by the soft magnetic thin film 8 near the front gap G, the inter-layer insulating film 8b is not exposed to the surface 10 oppositely contacted with a magnetic recording medium. Therefore, a false gap can be removed. Since magnetic flux does not cross the insulating film 8b near the front gap FG, magnetic resistance can be suppressed. Consequently, the reproducing efficiency can be improved and recording and reproducing characteristics can be also improved. |
