PURPOSE:To reduce weight and size while maintaining easiness of use, by a construction wherein a housing of a printer consists of a front housing comprising a keyboard and a rear housing comprising a print element, a driving means therefor and an ink roll, one of the housings being so fitted that it can be turned relative to the other. CONSTITUTION:A cylindrical platen 2 of a typewriter 1 is rotatably supported by a front frame 3 and a rear frame 4 which are so provided that they can be turned with a platen shaft 2a as a center, cooperates with a paper pan 5 and bail rollers 6 in supporting a printing paper P, and feeds the paper P. To the front frame 3 is fastened a resin-made front housing 8 provided with a keyboard 7 comprising a plurality of keys 7a on the upper surface thereof.
