摘要 PURPOSE:To reduce the cost of an integrated circuit by making a gradational display by varying the pulse width of modulating pulses applied to a data-side electrode according to display data. CONSTITUTION:The pulse width of the modulating pulses applied to the data- side electrode 16 is varied according to the display data to make the gradational display. Namely, the modulating pulses applied to the data-side electrode 16 for the gradational display vary only in pulse width and do not vary in voltage, so the transistor (TR) of a driving circuit 15 which outputs the modulating pulses can be turned on invariably in a saturated state, the heat loss of the TR iks suppressed low, and a high-dielectric-strength TR in the integrated circuit is composed of only, for example, an N channel MOS. Consequently, the cost of the integrated circuit is reducible.
