PURPOSE:To raise the efficiency of heat exchange by providing a heat storage tank packed with a heat medium of a liquid and heat storage pellets with a given specific gravity enough to float in the heat medium. CONSTITUTION:Heat storage pellets 12 to be changed into a heat storage tank 11 have a specific gravity such as is smaller than that of a heat medium when heated but such as is lower than the heat medium when the temperature is lowered. The heat medium used includes water, etc., and the pellets 12 used includes those in which paraffin 18 and iron 19 are enclosed in polyethylene shells 17. When heated by a heater 16, the specific gravity of the pellets 12 is reduced and the pellets 12 float on the heat medium to warm up a heat receiver 14.
