<p>PURPOSE:To reduce the lowering in gas treatment capacity during long-time operation, by applying high voltage between an electrode plate and a gas treatment layer provided in mutually opposed relationship so that the gas treatment layer has the same polarity as charged dust. CONSTITUTION:High voltage is applied between electrode plates 1 and conductive gas treatment layers 11 provided in a flow passage 2 in mutually opposed relationship so as to leave intervals therebetween and strong electric fields are generated between both of them to form a dust collecting part. When dirty air is flowed in the flow passage 2 in this state by a blower means, the dust in air is charged by a charge means. The air stream containing charged dust flows between electrode plates 1 and the gas treatment layers 11 to receive the action of electric fields but charged dust is not adhered to the gas treatment layers 11 having the same polarity as said charged dust and collected only by the electrode plates 1 having different polarity.</p> |
