PURPOSE:To economize hydraulic power by forming a water passage section along a roll surface and passing gushing water in the longitudinal direction of a roll body. CONSTITUTION:A cooling water guide 4 is provided along the surface of the roll 10 and a narrow water flow space 13 is formed between the guide 4 and the surface of the roll 10. The gap of the space 13 is made freely adjustable by a gap adjusting cylinder 3. Plural pieces of seals 5 internally contg. springs 15 are disposed to the guide 4. Cooling water is passed in the longitudinal direction of the roll 10 body, by which the cooling efficiency is improved. The considerable economization of the hydraulic power with the same cooling state is thus made possible by the above-mentioned method. |
