Process for preventing losses of ruthenium through evaporation

Process for preventing the evaporation of ruthenium in the process for evaporation of a residual liquid produced by reprocessing of discarded nuclear fuel containing a radioactive substance such as ruthenium. According to the invention this process consists in adding and dissolving in the said residual liquid an aluminium compound such as especially aluminium nitrate [Al(NO3)3.9H2O] or an aluminium/ruthenium hydroxide [Al(OH3)] so as to obtain an aluminium/ruthenium ratio equivalent to 1.3 to 700 as a gram-atom ratio or 0.34 to 187 as a weight ratio. The invention finds application especially in the nuclear industry.
