PURPOSE:To aim at improvement in the accuracy of tool damage detection in detecting it before damping, by installing a sonic sensor and a transmitter processing and outputting a signal out of the sensor at the side of a work, while connecting a receiver for a signal out of the transmitter, to an AE detector and performing a level judgement. CONSTITUTION:When a signal (f) being emitted according to a machining process is inputted into a receiver 20, it comes to be capable of receiving only a detecting signal of a sonic sensor 4a corresponding to an actual work 3'. Next, the AE signal separated by a signal separator 21 is amplified, inputted into a tool damage discriminator 6 and a comparator 12, and when an AE signal b is discriminated to be higher than the setting discriminating level by the comparator 12, a cutting abnormal signal (c) is inputted into the tool damage discriminator 6. Then, a rotation signal (a) and the cutting abnormal signal (c) are inputted into an AND circuit 14, and when there are both these signals (a) and (c), a signal causing an operator 16 to perform discriminating operation is emitted, while this operator 16 emits a warning signal to a numerical control system 2 and an electric power unit 17. And, the N/C system 2 stops a machine tool 1, while the electric power unit 17 cuts off its power feed, and the operator 16 displays information to a printer 7 and an indicator 9. |
