The appliance has a probe with an inner tube which is introduced into the ground to be broken up. It has a compressed-air quick-action stop valve which is coupled to the piston of a pneumatic cylinder and which is provided in the upper region of a substrate intermediate vessel, whilst at the bottom is located an injection valve with an injector tube which is guided from the quick-action stop valve and which is coupled, via a lifting rod designed as an airline, to the piston of a further cylinder operated by compressed air. The inner tube of the probe is connected via the airline to a dynamic-pressure chamber of the cylinder for a time-delayed release of the injection valve. Control-pressure lines are connected to the two cylinders and a compressed-air line is connected to the dynamic-pressure chamber and is connected to the inner tube of the probe. The compressed-air line is guided from a pilot valve which can be actuated via a further control-pressure line. Provided in the intermediate vessel is at least one air nozzle, from which, with the injection valve opened, there issues a compressed-air stream which carries with it the substrate in the vessel immediately upon the opening of the injection valve and which throws it into the injection jet in an accelerated manner.
