PURPOSE:To provide a printer enhanced in heat efficiency, reduced in power and shortened in recording time, by moving a thermal head to the same direction as that of the ink paper at almost the same speed as that of said paper when the thermal head is pressed to the ink paper and returning the same to the original position when the pressing force of the thermal head is reduced in the next process. CONSTITUTION:A thermal head 14 is supported by springs 13, 14 and made movable to the direction of rotation and radius direction of a platen 1 by electromagnets 10, 11. The coil 15 of the electromagnet 10 is conducted in such a state that no pressure is applied to the thermal head 14, that is the coil 2 of the electromagnet 11 is not conducted, thus moving, the thermal head 14 to the same direction as the platen at an almost same speed; and the thermal head is conducted to perform recording. When conduction of the thermal head 14 has been finished, a current 10 is cut off and, at the same time, a current is made to flow to the electromagnet 11 to reduce the pressing of the thermal head to return the thermal head the original position by the spring 13. By this method, the relative speed of the thermal head and ink paper comes to almost zero at the time of pressing and, because the ink paper and the thermal head move relatively at the time of pressure reduction but pressing force is small, the abrasion of a protective film can be reduced to a large extent. |
