A battery connecter is specified which contains a connecting terminal (having an essentially cylindrical clamping surface and radially outwardly pointing clamping flaps) a cable attachment device on the connecting terminal and a covering cap. In order to make possible quick and reliable attachment to a connecting terminal of a battery, the covering cap is attached to the connecting terminal such that it can pivot. The clamping elements act between the covering cap and the connecting terminal which press the clamping flaps against one another and release them during lowering and lifting, respectively, of the covering cap.
