For a water-channelling heat insulation of flat roofs with rows of heat-insulating elements folded in a saddle-type manner, said heat-insulating elements are configured from a base element which is wedge-shaped in side view and a panel-shaped covering element which can be laid thereon, on the one hand, the base element being fastened and, on the other hand, the covering element being fastened on the base element. Between the base element and the covering element there is laid a foil sheet which acts as a vapour barrier and as a second water-guiding plane and, with its low-lying valley channels, adjoins the pipe system for the water discharge. The surface of the heat insulation is covered by a water-resistant and weather-resistant covering sheet.
