摘要 The invention relates to a method for the electromagnetic stirring or conveying of conductive liquids, in particular metallic melts. As a departure from hitherto customary stirring methods, superimposition of two or more magnetic fields of different strengths, direction, speed and/or geometrical shape are used to achieve a force-density distribution in, for example, the molten core of solidifying castings, which make it possible to achieve high flow velocities in the interior but low flow velocities at the solidification front. It is thereby possible, for example in the electromagnetic stirring of steel strands produced by the continuous casting process, to avoid the formation of carbon-starved zones ("white streaks"), even in the case of relatively large magnetic field strengths. The stirring method according to the invention therefore allows more effective stirring than conventional methods.
