摘要 In a device for exerting a pressing force in a sealing direction on a tube sleeve made of heat-recoverable, thermoplastic material and in a process for sealing tube sleeves, the aim is to provide a solution with which, using simple means, a corresponding pressing force can be exerted even on cable sheaths whose external diameter is less than the extruded dimension of the cable entries of the cable sleeves, damage to the plastic sheathes or tubes also being avoided. This is achieved by means of a device of the type described at the outset in that it is formed as a shrink-tube piece (4) with an extruded dimension smaller than the outer diameter of the sleeve region (2) to be sealed and with a wall thickness below the wall thickness of the sleeve region (2) to be sealed, the process being distinguished in that the tube sleeve region is shrunk on in a known manner by the application of heat and, while still hot, a shrink tube piece is pushed over this region, the extruded dimension of this pushed-over shrink tube piece being smaller than the outer diameter of the shrunk tube sleeve region which it surrounds, whereupon the shrink tube piece is subsequently shrunk and, after completion of the shrinking operation, the outer surface of the shrink tube piece is cooled. <IMAGE>
