PURPOSE:IFN-gamma polypeptide having high specific activity, obtained by removing or partially amino acid from well-known human interferon-gamma(IFN-gamma)polypeptide or by replacing partially amino acid of it with another amino acid. CONSTITUTION:An amino acid is removed from N end of human IFN-gamma polypeptide having an amino acid arrangement shown by the table, or one or both of amino acids of Cys at the first and third positions from the N end are replaced with other amino acids, to give a novel polypeptide. A derivative (3-Tyr-IFN-gamma) obtained by replacing Cys at the third position with Tyr shows 2-4 times as high specific activity as that of original IFN-gamma, and derivatives of 1-Ser-3-IFN-gamma, 3-Ser-IFN-gamma, 1,3-Ser-IFN-gamma, and obtained by deactivating amino acid at N end of IFN-gamma of the table have the same or more IFN activity than the original IFN-gamma. |
