<p>A trace switch (SH), operated at a line rate, is coupled to a line deflection winding (LH) and a trace capacitance (Ct) for applying a trace voltage (Vt) to the deflection winding (LH) to generate line scanning current in the deflection winding (LH). A deflection retrace capacitance (CRH) is coupled to the deflection winding (LH) for forming a deflection retrace resonant circuit (40) during the line retrace interval to generate a deflection retrace pulse voltage (VR). A modulator inductance (Lm) is coupled to the trace switch (SH) and to the line deflection winding (LH). A modulator switch (Sm) applies a line rate, switched mode, modulation voltage (Vm) directly to the modulator inductance (Lm) to control the amplitude of the current in the modulator inductance (Lm) at the end of the line trace interval. A modulator retrace capacitance (CRm) is coupled by the modulator switch (Sm) to the modulator inductance (Lm) during the line retrace interval for forming a modulator retrace resonant circuit (50). The switched mode modulation voltage is varied (42) at a field rate to provide side pincushion correction to the line scanning current (iH). </p> |
