A protective device primarily intended for articles of clothing and intended primarily to protect against injury from cutters and saws. The invention is characterized in that the protective device (1) includes a plurality of plates (3) that are placed on a base material (2). The plates (3) are preferably made of metal and are layed in successive rows, with adjacent rows being displaced relative to one another through a distance in the longitudinal direction of the rows corresponding to approximately half the width dimension of a plate (3). The plate rows partially overlap one another and at least that part of respective plates (3) which is overlapped by one, two or more adjacent plates is secured to the base material (2). |
