PURPOSE:To provide an agent for anti-periodontal disease containing an extract from cinnamic bark as the active component, free from side effects, etc., and effective for prevention and thereby of periodontal diseases. CONSTITUTION:An extract from cinnamic bark, preferably an extract obtained by using cinnamic bark from which refined oil components are removed as the raw material by using water, alcohol or a mixture solution of water and alcohol as an extractant is blended as the active component. The above- mentioned extract shows growth inhibitory effects on Bactericides gingivalis as periodontal disease bacterium and shows an inhibitory effect on collagenase produced from the dacterium. The above-mentioned extract is mixed in a chewing gum, a candy, a tablet drug, a gargle, a tooth paste, etc., to obtain the respective products having anti-periodontal disease effects. |
