PULSE WIDTH MODULATING CIRCUIT

The modulation circuit is suitable for a digital audio disc reproduction circuit e.g. of optical compact disc type. An N-bit latching circuit holds count data obtained by counting a reference clock signal in accordance with a period of a signal to be modulated. A frequency divider divides the reference clock signal by the reciprocal of 2 to the power of n, N being greater than n. An (N-n)- bit counter counts an output from the frequency divider at a predetermined period. A comparator compares outputs from th counter and latching circuit to produce a pulse-width modulated signal.
