PURPOSE:To improve the lowering of picture quality caused by the mixture of colors or leaked light, etc., caused by deviation between a color filter and a display picture element electrode by forming the color filter on the display electrode on a substrate side forming a thin film active element. CONSTITUTION:A color filter 4 is formed on an element electrode substrate 1 forming a display electrode 2 and a thin film active element 3. The color filters 4 for three primary colors red (R), green (G) and blue (B) are formed on the respective display electrodes 2 in order. As a method for forming the color filters 4, a so-called dyeing method is used to dye the respective dyes R, G and B to respective layers after applying, exposing and patterning gelatin. Thus, since the color filters 4 are already formed on the display electrodes 2 when sticking a common electrode substrate 9 and a display electrode substrate 1 together, the deviation of the both substrates can be almost eliminated. |
