PURPOSE:To obtain a cutter holder simple in construction and excellent in durability and applicable as a multiple-cutter holder by providing an air hole in the central axis of the cutter holder and providing an electric heater and a thermal expander at its end and feeding a current or the cooling air in response to the electrical change of the machining size. CONSTITUTION:The edge position of a cutter 10 is corrected by thermally expanding a thermal expander 9 and displacing the tip section of a cartridge 13 in the outward direction of a holder 2 via a heat insulation plate 4a. That is, a work 24 is machined to form a shaft hole 25 by rotating the holder 2 supporting the cutter 10 around its central axis 26 and feeding it in the axial direction. Then, a shaft 30 provided with a gauge 21 is inserted into the shaft hole 25, and the electrical change is fed to a control unit 23 as a digital signal by a measuring unit 22. This signal is compared with a signal corresponding to the predetermined machining size by this unit 23, and a current in response to the difference between them is fed to an electric hearer 6 to control the extension of the thermal expander 9. Furthermore, when the heating temperature exceeds the temperature to be corrected, the addendum position can be quickly corrected by feeding the cooling air to an air passage 8. |
