PURPOSE:To obtain a polyethylene resin compsn. which has excellent antibacterial and antifurgal performances and can be melt-molded, by mixing metallic copper or copper alloy powder having a specified particle size distribution with polyethylene. CONSTITUTION:A resin compsn. is obtd. by blending 15-40wt% metallic powder (i) which may have been subjected to an oxidative treatment and is selected from among metallic copper and alloy powder contg. at least 60wt% copper, each having an average partible size of 1-20mu and such a particle size distribution that a residue on 250-mesh sieve is 8wt% or below, 60-85wt% polyethylene (ii) and optionally 1-10wt% ethylene polymer (iii) contg. one carboxyl group per 1,000 or more carbon atoms of the polymer. The ethylene polymer (ii) is a polymer contg. 70wt% unit originating from an ethylene monomer. Moldings prepd. from said resin compsn. contain metallic powders kneaded and dispersed therein so that even when their surfaces are worn by sea water, antibacterial and antifungal effects are not reduced. |
