PURPOSE:To enhance the efficiency of inertia air intake, by providing intake-air manifolds for both banks of a V-type engine, adjacent to each other, and by forming a communication passage extending in the longitudinal direction of the cylinder row of each bank, in the partition wall of the intake-air manifold, with the length of the communication passage being shorter than the sum of intake-air pipes which are provided for the intake-air manifolds, independently from each other. CONSTITUTION:Intake-air manifolds 11, 12 are arranged for the right and left banks of a V-type engine, adjacent to each other, and are provided respectively, with intake-air pipes 4, 5 independent from each other. A communication passage 14 is formed in the adjacent side partition wall 13 of each intake-air manifold along the longitudinal direction of the cylinder row or the longitudinal direction of the intake-air manifold. Further, a shut-off valve 16 is formed in a part of the partition wall 13, and is opened during operation of the engine at a high rotational speed, and introduction of intake-air is carried out die to pressure interference. The length l1 of the communication passage 14 is set to be shorter than the sum of the lengths l3, l4 of the intake-air pipes 4, 5 which are provided for the intake-air manifolds 11, 12, independent from each other. |
