PURPOSE: To execute color/density correction processing without regard to the spectrum sensitivity variation quantity of a copying material to use. CONSTITUTION: A copying original N is scanned at intervals by a measuring light source 6 to spectrally divide-detect measured light to transform to an electrically measuring signal. An (n)-spectrum measuring signal (f) is transformed to an (n)-spectrum density signal (d) to compare with a neutral density d0 to form an (n)-spectrum density difference (c). In data compression, the (n)-spectrum density difference (c) is transformed to a transformation coefficient of m<n by orthogonal transformation. A transformation coefficient (k) is analyzed by a color/density correcting routing to calculate deviationΔk. A copying light quantity exposing correction (e) adjusted by a copying material M is decided from this deviationΔk. A photographic color copy is generated by the decided exposing value.
