PURPOSE:To prevent the iron, slag, etc., ejected from a converter during blowing from sticking to a dust collecting installation by spraying material essentially consisting of MgO, CaO, Al2O3, SiO2, etc., to the inside of the dust collecting hood of the converter. CONSTITUTION:A spraying pipe 5 is disposed in the space between a converter throat 2 and and dust collecting port 4 of the dust collecting hood 3. The spraying agent essentially consisting of MgO, CaO, Al2O3 and SiO2, etc., is sprayed up-ward from spraying nozzles 6 at the top end of the pipe 5 toward the peripheral wall of the hood 3. The nozzles 6 are preferably provided to an annular shape to the circumferential wall of the hood 3 to spray the spraying agent like a shower. The spraying is executed prior to the start of blowing, after the end of blowing or in the period when there is high possibility of base metal sticking during blowing. The sticking of the iron, slag, etc., ejected from the inside of the furnace is thereby prevented in the stage of blowing and even if the iron, slag, etc., stick thereto, the removal thereof is easily executed. The operating efficiency of the converter is thus improved. |
