PURPOSE:To improve the work efficiency and to ensure the quality of molten steel by adding a coagulant to slag in a converter after refining by blowing to coagulate and solidify the slag. CONSTITUTION:A coagulant is sprinkled on slag in a converter after refining by blowing to coagulate and solidify the slag. The coagulated and solidified slag is directly removed with a skimmer or the like and steel is tapped off. By this method for preventing the outflow of slag during the tapping of steel, the total time necessary for refining by blowing in the converter can be shortened and the effects of P and oxide in molten slag on molten steel can be eliminated, so the quality of the molten steel after refining by blowing is ensured. The return of salg during deoxidation is inhibited and a drop in the temp. of the molten steel is reduced, so the work efficiency is improved and energy is saved. |
