DETECTING ELEMENT FOR GAS LEAK

Gas leak detector comprises a tubular gas sensitive element defining a gas inlet opening at one end and a gas outlet at the other, made of oxygen ion conducting solid electrolytre; a set of electrodes on inner and outer walls of the element, the outer electrode contacting a reference gas; a heater heating the element to a predetermined temp. at a location corresponding to the electrodes; and a catalytic layer on the surface of the inner wall electrode contacting a target gas. The element pref. also includes a cover on the outer surface preventing the outer electrode from directly contacting the target gas.
