PURPOSE:A hair nourishing agent showing improved hair growth promoting effect (hair nourishing effect) by applying it to the human or animal skin, having long-term stability and high commercial value, containing vitamin E-gamma -linolenic acid ester. CONSTITUTION:A hair nourishing agent containing vitamin E-gamma -linolenic acid(=gamma -linolenic acid tocopherol ester). The compound is obtained by reacting-lenolenic acid(=6,9,12-octadecatrienoic acid) with tocopherol in the presence of a conden sate of N,N'-dicyclohexylcarbodiimide, etc. The amount of the compound added to hair tonic is usually 0.001-10wt% based on the total amounts. The hair nourishing material can be prepared into a dosage form such as hair tonic, hair lotion, hair cream, etc., and may be properly blended with water, an alcohol such as ethanol, a higher fatty acid, liquid paraffin, vegetable oil, surface active agent, etc. |
