PURPOSE:To improve the fuel consumption of a vehicle in its running operation, by controlling a speed changer to be placed in a neutral stage as necessary in accordance with the depressive distance of an accelerator pedal. CONSTITUTION:An electronic control device 36, having an arithmetic processing function like a microcomputer, is formed so as to output an on-off signal to each of the solenoid valves 32-35 by obtaining informations from a car speed sensor 37, throttle opening sensor 38 and a brake switch 39. This device 36 outputs an on-signal to the solenoid valve 34 when a throttle opening theta of zero is detected by the throttle opening sensor 38, that is, when the throttle valve of an internal-combustion engine 100 is fully closed by releasing an accelerator pedal from depression. Here said solenoid valve 34 is opened placing an OD brake 14 in a released condition by discharging pressure oil in a hydraulic servo device of the OD brake 14. Then a speed changer is controlled to be placed in a neutral condition.
