The invention relates to a security paper which comprises a paper substrate and at least one security component 2 which comprises at least one metameric security element 6 which extends over at least a section of the substrate. The security component is anchored securely in the substrate, in that it is provided over at least a section of its surface with one or more collections 4 of one or more recesses 5. Consequently, the security component is eminently suitable for containing metameric security elements in the form of a film, a kinegram and/or a hologram.
