The invention relates to a liquid-cooled electrical current generator as a brushless generator having a built-in exciter machine. The generator is designed as a split-cage generator. The cooling fluid is passed through the air gaps between the stator and rotor. Additional cooling is provided by means of an axial cooling duct through the rotor.
