The invention relates to transporting, and optionally storing lightweight containers in an upright position on one or more endless conveyor components which revolve during operation, the containers being supplied and removed in an empty state. A method of this nature is known and is used in numerous devices, but exhibits the drawback that the empty holders may fall over too easily, thus limiting the processing rate. A greater processing rate can be achieved by, according to the invention, ensuring that the containers are filled with a certain quantity of liquid during transport, in such a manner that the stability increases and consequently the containers are less prone to falling over.
