In a process for conditioning and/or neutralising a pollutant-containing residue, to make it suitable for landfill, in particular from flue gas purification, with addition of a binder, the problem arises of encapsulating the pollutant-containing residues with sufficient reliability against leaching waters. To solve this problem, it is proposed to admix thermoplastics to the pollutant-containing residue, to transfer the mixture under a vacuum into the plasticising range of the admixed thermoplastics and then to cast the mixture, present in the liquid state, into casting moulds.
