The invention relates to a method for balancing a vehicle wheel fitted with a pneumatic tyre, having a rigid rim which has rim flanges extending essentially radially inwards, and having a vehicle pneumatic tyre which is mounted with its beads on the radially inner side of the rim next to the rim flanges, having, furthermore, one cover ring each which fills up the space axially inwards from each tyre bead, and relates to a vehicle wheel that is thereby balanced. In order to mount the balancing weights more favourably, it is proposed firstly to balance the vehicle wheel by mounting balancing weights on the radially inward circumference of the wheel rim and not to instal the respective covering ring until after that.
