A hydraulic pump (2) is proposed. This is suitable for a vehicle braking system and within a casing (5) has a cam chamber (6) within which a cam (13) rotates. Emanating from the cam chamber (6) there are two pump cylinders (7) in each of which a pump piston (8) can be displaced. The pump cylinders (7) each have one inlet valve (10) and one outlet valve (11) and each accommodate a restoring spring (9) which presses the associated pump piston (8) against the cam (13). On the discharge side, the outlet valves (11) are connected to the cam chamber (6) so that that pressure obtains in said cam chamber (6) which is supplied by the hydraulic pump (2) to an accumulator (19) and to the vehicle braking system (4). This pressure loads the pump pistons (8) counter to the respective restoring spring (9). The restoring springs are dimensioned in such a way that their spring forces are overcome as soon as a pressure generated by pumping within the cam chamber (6) reaches a preselected pressure threshold. <IMAGE>
