PURPOSE:To improve the recording and reproducing characteristic by inclining both side faces projectingly in the butting direction of magnetic core half bodies and forming metallic magnetic films on both slopes and butting magnetic films of opposite slopes and providing wide gaps formed with metallic magnetic films on both side parts. CONSTITUTION:A magnetic path which records and reproduces a video signal is formed by metallic magnetic films 11 and 12 formed on slopes of nonmagnetic protective materials, and a required track width TW is formed by the film thickness of metallic magnetic films. A long-wavelength tracking pilot signal is recorded in a gap G1 between metallic magnetic films 11 and 12' and metallic magnetic films 11' and 12. A length l1 between metallic magnetic films 11 and 11' and a length l2 between metallic magnetic films 12 and 12' are set to >=10mum to not record neither reproduce unnecessary short-wavelength signals. A gap G2 formed by metallic magnetic films 11 and 12' is inclined outward, and even this gap is used for recording and reproducing of long-wavelength pilot signals different in wavelength. Thus, a magnetic head superior in recording and reproducing characteristic is obtained easily and inexpensively. |
