What is described is an apparatus serving for the winding of label carrier tape (1) which is driven intermittently by a label feed (4, 5). This purpose is served by an intermittent drive (16, 11) which is controlled as a function of the instantaneous tape supply located in a store in front of the winding roller (7). A sensing lever (6) detects the tape supply in this store, and this sensing lever (6) controls a shift coupling (11, 12) which, in the engaged state, makes a drive connection between the label feed (4, 5) and the winding roller (7) and thereby sets the latter in motion, but in the disengaged state breaks this drive connection and thereby causes the winding roller (7) to stop. <IMAGE>
